Bare concrete around a pool gets brutally hot in Memphis summers — hot enough to burn bare feet by early afternoon. It's also slippery when wet, cracks over time, and stains from chlorine and sunscreen. Pool deck coating solves all of it — slip-resistant texture, lighter colors that reflect heat, and a surface that stays intact through Mid-South weather cycles. We coat pool decks for residential and commercial pools across Memphis, the Mid-South, and surrounding communities in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas.

When You Need Pool Deck Coating

Any pool deck where bare concrete gets too hot, too slippery, or too stained benefits from coating. Summer temperatures above 90°F regularly push bare concrete surface temperatures over 130°F — not safe for bare feet. Wet concrete after pool splashes is a slip hazard, especially for kids. Older pool decks often have cracking from freeze-thaw cycles, staining from years of chlorine and body products, and worn-down textured finishes that have lost their grip. New pool construction should include deck coating before swim season so the surface is protected from day one. Commercial pools (apartment complexes, hotels, community pools) often need coating for ADA compliance, slip-resistance standards, and appearance.

Our Pool Deck Coating Options

We install three pool deck systems, each matched to use and look. Decorative concrete overlays are a cement-based resurfacing applied over existing concrete, then scored or taped into custom patterns (tile, flagstone, ashlar) and sealed with a UV-stable topcoat — best when the deck is sound but tired-looking and you want a high-end custom appearance. Flake systems use a polyaspartic base with a color-chip broadcast and a polyaspartic topcoat — durable, slip-resistant, and great at hiding minor imperfections. Solid color systems with a polyurethane topcoat give a clean, uniform finish that's UV-stable and easy to clean — a good fit for modern pool surrounds and commercial decks. All three include crack repair, prep, and a slip-resistant outdoor topcoat. We walk through options at the quote based on your use, existing deck condition, and the look you want.

Pool Deck Coating Cost in Memphis

Pool decks are priced on site, not off a table. A deck wraps the water with curves, steps, coping and drainage falls, so two the same size can price very differently, depending on the system, the condition of the existing concrete, and the level of decorative detail. Decorative overlays with custom scoring patterns and premium polyurethane topcoats sit at the higher end. Larger decks and commercial pools are quoted individually. Free on-site quotes with fixed pricing — the quote includes crack repair, prep, and topcoat.

Why Choose Us

Pool deck work requires UV-stable, flexible systems that handle water, chlorine, and Mid-South temperature swings. Standard garage epoxy on a pool deck fails fast — wrong chemistry for the environment. We use pool-specific systems, trained crews, and use systems matched to the outdoor conditions. Free quotes and fixed pricing.

Why Epoxy Floors Peel, and Why Yours Will Not

The two most common causes are skipping the diamond grind, and coating over concrete that has a moisture problem. Outside, add the two that finish off a cheap job: a topcoat that is not UV-stable, so it ambers and chalks in the sun, and freeze-thaw working at a coating that never bonded properly in the first place.

We diamond-grind every slab

Industrial planetary equipment opens the concrete profile so the coating bonds mechanically into the slab. Never acid etching.

We moisture-test before we coat

A moisture test runs before any coating goes down. If the numbers come back high, we change the system.

We put down two to three times the material

Our base coat goes down at 100 square feet per gallon. Thin installers spread the same gallon over 250 to 300 square feet — roughly a third of the film. Then flake is broadcast to rejection, about 40 pounds per 200 square feet, and sealed under a polyaspartic topcoat.

That is what separates floors that last from floors that fail.

Grinding takes a day and a crew. Three times the material costs three times the material. That is most of the difference between our quote and a cheaper one — and it is the reason we can put a five-year warranty on the bond instead of hoping it holds.

5-Year Outdoor Warranty

Outdoor floors carry a five-year warranty against delamination. The prep and the material are identical to an indoor job - what changes is the life the floor has to live. Sun, freeze-thaw and pool chemicals are harder on any coating than a garage ever is, so outdoors we warrant five years and say so up front.
